Born and raised within the city of Korvosa, Reiyne is a dedicated follower of The God Of The First Vault who spends the majority of his time tending to the faithful at The Bank of Abadar in Northpoint – a district within the city. A Widower, Reiyne lost his wife Carstina during childbirth to their only child, a daughter who carries her mothers name.

Though Reiyne has family within the city, he has a rather cloistered relationship with his daughter who, though he loves her very much, often wished for a less sheltered life.

When Castina the younger went missing, Reiyne was given leave by the Head Cleric to seek her out. His first clue led him in the direction of the infamous criminal; Geadren Lamm…

Reiyne’s Specific Paladin Code:
Lacking the usual Pathfinder rulings of Alignment, Reiyne has a personal Paladin code which he needs to adhere to in order to remain getting favour from his God, Abadar. Unsurprisingly Money is involved, but Family is just as important to him.
Reiyne’s Paladin Code is:

1. Never harm, nor through inaction allow to be harmed, a child.
2. Avoid lies, except where the truth may expressly harm or cause harm to an innocent.
3. Never waste money nor spend it frivolously. All monies spent should be for a cause, never on a whim.
4. A Monthly donation to the Church of Abadar of no less than 25% of profit earned, to aid the running of the Church.
5. Never betray Korvosa
6. Respect Authority but have the courage to challenge it when corruption is apparent.
7. Law before the individual: Nobody is above the Law, except Abadar himself.
8. Protect Those Who Cannot Protect Themselves, protect the Innocent.
9. Bring Order to Chaos; smite those who wish to Corrupt the Law.
10. Speak with Master of The First Vault at Sunrise and Sunset.

Reiyne’s Temptation:

(James I will send this to you separately)

Is Reiyne An Organic, Or Sworn Paladin?:

Reiyne has always had Abadar in his life, but his initial following was that of the Clergy, a scholar who worked to heal the sick and protect the teachings of The Master of The First Vault. When he was younger and his sister was harmed due to his negligence, it began Reiyne down a path of almost zealous devotion to the God following the death of his wife in childbirth, finally causing his calling as a paladin after a vision the night after his daughter, Castina, went missing. In his heart Reiyne knows he is doing his God’s will, and strives to live up to the expectations placed upon himself. Though the church recognise Reiyne has been gifted as a Paladin by Abadar and as such cannot deny his connection to the Divine, he has not specifically been sworn in as a Paladin, at Reiyne’s own request. He believes that he needs to earn – though his thoughts and deeds – the title, and as such still works as a Priest as he tries to understand what it means to be a Paladin.

What are his Duties and Authorities?:

Though a Paladin and crusader for his God, Reiyne is still under the employ of the Bank of Abadar, and works as a priest of Abadar. He holds no extra authority than his priestly duties would allow (though he often acts as though he does), and is expected to attend church regularly. Though his current quest to find his daughter is all-consuming, often causing him to become agitated when no progress appears to be made, Reiyne is also under the employ of the Crown and his three sets of responsibilities often prove hard to juggle. To Reiyne, each is important yet almost contradictory in nature and as such he tries to dedicate time to each cause. His responsibilities as a Father, Priest and Agent of the Crown rarely coincide.

What is his Relationship With Religion?:

Religion has always been a driving factor in Reiyne’s life. His father was a priest, and his father before him. It was widely accepted that Reiyne would follow the same path, which he did. As a Paladin, Reiyne is a bit more overt about his religion than he was as a Priest, wearing the symbol of Abadar proudly upon his golden-gilded armour and yet, he does not preach. It is Reiyne’s belief that people who wish to follow Abadar will do so without the coercing of others so instead, he presents himself as a beacon of that faith so that others might seek him out. Part of his Paladin Code is to pray to Abadar at least twice a day, whereupon he prays for spells and guidance, admits sins and asks for forgiveness and tries to wipe any resentments he has gathered for the sinful around him. While Reiyne believes that Abadar has a plan, he does not see himself as any more or less important than the next man, except that his powers come with a responsibility to use them for good rather than ill and, while Abadar watches him always, he does not expect to be acknowledged until his time of judgement comes. Reiyne recognises that the sins of men are theirs alone, for example he does not assume that the kidnap of his daughter is part of a bigger plan that Abadar put in place, rather the acts of cowardly sinners who will be brought into the light.
